Harmony Township customers will see an increase in their sewer rates.
Commissioners approved an ordinance Wednesday that increases sewer service rates about 18 percent, or $6.33 more per month.
“We don’t have a choice,” Angus said.
Harmony is serviced by the Ambridge Municipal Authority, which had to increase its rates because of system upgrades. Angus said Harmony, which shares in the debt, had been absorbing the costs on behalf of customers, but can no longer continue to operate in such a way.
Officials also approved a new section to the code of ordinances related to termination of water service for unpaid sewage bills and associated payments.
