Irene C. Panek of Baden, formerly of Ambridge, died Thursday, August 13, 2015, in Villa St. Joseph. She was 101 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who was the former mayor of Ambridge, Walter Panek Sr., in 1999.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Walter W. Jr. and Joyce Panek, New Brighton, and Thomas and Patricia Panek, Economy Boro; four grandchildren, Rachel (James) Davis, Ohioville; Dr. Chris (Patricia) Panek, Fondell, PA; Dr. Marnie (Brian) Smith, Avon, CT, and Leslie Conners, Fondell, PA; seven great-grandchildren, Zachary Lamantia, Lauren Lamantia, Hayden Panek, Piper Panek, Amelia Smith, Elizabeth Smith and Tessa Conners, and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Matika, Ambridge, and Dolores Matika, Gibsonia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Stephen, Andrew, Joseph, Michael and Francis Matika, and two sisters, Marie Oshop and Dorothy Montini.
Friends were received Sunday, Aug. 17 in the Bohn-Matich Funeral Home., Inc. 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, where a service was held Monday, Aug. 18 followed by a Mass of Christian burial in the Good Samaritan Church, Ambridge. Interment followed in Good Samaritan Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of Villa St. Joseph for their excellent care of their mother for the past 10 years.
