Residents around the area marked Memorial Day with ceremonies, parades and barbecues, honoring America's military and those who sacrificed their lives for our country.
In Economy, a memorial service took place at the veteran's memorial in the municipal complex. Master Sgt. Thomas Short of Ambridge JROTC was the guest speaker. Mayor David Poling, master of ceremonies, introduced singer Alex Cherico to sing "Amazing Grace" to honor all of the fallen heroes, and dedicated to Rose Livingston.

Ambridge, a memorial service took place at PJ Caul Park with American Legion Post 341, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 165 and the Ladies Auxiliary.
"To our fallen comrades, we salute you for all you have done. Your courage has kept us safe. Your sacrifice has kept us free," said Michael A. Mikulich, master of ceremonies and member of the VFW post 165 and American Legion Post 341.
Major Larry Googins, USAF Retired, was the guest speaker. At the end of the service, the crowd moved to the bridge to toss a wreath in order to pay respects to fallen comrades who lost their lives at sea.

Over in Baden, the annual Baden Memorial Day parade kicked off at the Byersdale Field, proceeding down State Street and stopping at the Baden American Legion Post 641 for a gun salute. The parade ended at the Baden Memorial Library, where a memorial service took place.
