Please note that residents require permission from the Shade Tree Commission before planting a tree along street right of ways (typically between the street and sidewalk). Why? I’m doing a good thing by planting a tree along my street. Look at all the benefits listed above.
Think about the maintenance required for the life of that tree and when it is full grown. That small seedling is now very large. The roots have damaged your sidewalk or repairs are now needed due to busted underground water/sewer lines. Perhaps that tree was planted under power lines and now poses a safety hazard. The Shade Tree Commission wants to make sure the right tree is planted in the right spot so that all can benefit from a healthy and happy tree. Some locations may just not be suitable for a street tree. As an alternative, consider donating a tree that can be planted in a local park through the Committee to Clean and Beautify Ambridge. Please contact the Shade Tree Commission with any questions.
Reminder: Please join the Committee to Clean and Beautify Ambridge this Saturday for the annual Spring Cleanup Event. Won’t you join us in our efforts to make our town, our state, our country and our world a better, cleaner place to live? Meet at the Falcons on April 25, 2015 – 9:30 AM registration, 10:00 AM start clean up, Well Deserved Lunch to follow
