Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11, the day we honor mom for all the amazing things she does. Here are nine ways you can treat your mom in the local area.

1. Get Flowers--Economy Volunteer Fire Department is having its annual Mother's Day flower sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and at 9 a.m. Sunday until they sell out.

The volunteer department orders more than 600 flower baskets and other flower ornaments, which are sold to raise funds. Cost is $15 a basket or two for $25. The 10-inch baskets come from three different growers.

Stop by Station 3 on Conway Wallrose Road or Economy Cleaners on the corner of Duss Avenue and 24th Street in Harmony.

2. Breakfast Kickoff—Start off your Sunday morning with Janice's Sweet Harmony Cafe's special of stuffed French toast from the hours of 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  They will be serving stuffed pork chops starting at 11 a.m.  Located at 2820 Duss Ave.

3. Play Date for Mom—Let mom go off and do her own thing from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Greek Church while the family makes Mother's Day plans. She'll enjoy 20 tables of crafters and vendors. There will also be a bake sale with Greek pastries and a variety of soups to choose from for lunch. The event at 2930 Beaver Road is sponsored by the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos, which means friend of the poor.

4. Mother's Day Brunch—The Venue at Harmony Ridge, 1280 Breitenstein Road, is having a Mother's Day Brunch at 1 p.m. Sunday. The menu includes slow roasted prime rib, oven roasted turkey breast, chicken marsala, crab and tilapia croquette, pasta primavera, scalloped potatoes, cornbread stuffing, Caribbean blend vegetable, garden salad and appetizers of cheese and pepperoni and vegetable displays. Adults $21.95, seniors $17.95, and children $9.95. For reservations call 724-266-2414.

5. Grab a Drink—Is mom a tea drinker? Maybe she prefers to sip a latte, espresso or regular cup of Joe? If so, why not take mom out for a beverage on Sunday at the Blue Canary Coffeehouse, 2751 Duss Ave. Moms get half-off prices on any drink.

6. Find a Gift—In honor of all mothers, Do It Best Home Center, 500 Ohio River Boulevard, is offering $5 off any purchase of $20 or more. The deal is available all month long. Click here for the coupon and other local deals.

7. Personalize a Gift—Are you looking to give mom a gift from the heart especially for her? Gift items at The Moonbeam Jar can be customized and personalized. Visit the store at 812 Merchant St., former location of Stanley's Flowers.

8. Take Mom Out—Remember it's the thought that counts and mom doesn't want you to break the bank. Showing your appreciation by getting mom out of the house and to a church service. Flowers will be available before and after services at New Hope Community Church, 592 Beaver Road, on the steps outside. Pick up a posie or two and surprise your mom.

9. Enjoy a Movie Together--Ambridge Family Theater will be showing Captain America: The Winter Soldier, starring Chris Evans and Samuel L. Jackson all weekend long. Click here for show times.
