Connie Holladay saw signs that her corporate job was coming to an end. The company she worked for was sold several times over a number of years. She knew that she had to start preparing for a new venture.
Holladay's first dream was to own a bed and breakfast, but says "God lead me here. Now it is ice cream and coffee. "
She worked in a corporate company for 25 years and knew that her time in her other job was ending. She decided to purchase the old Dukes Ice Cream shop located at 530 Merchant St.
Her shop, Lickety-Split Cafe, will be serving 28 favors of hard Hershey's ice cream along with soft serve and classic vanilla and chocolate twist. She is currently testing different coffees, but promises every pot will be freshly grounded.
"This is a family-run business, family owned and family run," Holladay said.
She is looking to open up during the first weeks of August and plans are to expand the menu beyond ice cream and coffee by adding a few food items.
The shop will have free WiFi and space for meetings. They already have people lined up for open mic nights, as well.
