Newly elected Commissioner Debona won both the two and four-year term in the November 2019 election.
Bob Villella, Township Manager, shared that it is unusual that a community has a person win both seats.
DeBona accepted the four-year term, and the board declared the two-year term vacant.
Several nominations were suggested from the board for the vacant term. During the roll call vote, each nomination ended with ending in deadlock.
After public comments and an open discussion from the board members, Commissioner Bradley Payne opened nominations again. Payne made the motion to nominated Shaun V. Mosura to fill the vacancy, seconded by DeBona, resulting in 3-1 vote with Donald Gunther voting no. Magistrate Korol had Mosura take the oath of office.
(D) Debona and (D) Paul D. Kokoski were the top vote-getters for the two seats open in the general election for the four-year term. DeBona was also the top vote-getter for the one seat for the two-year term having (R) Mosura was the next highest vote-getter.
"I am happy that we were able to find common ground and do what is best to move forward," shared DeBona . " I am excited to work with my fellow board members to improve, enhance, and develop the wonderful community that we call home."
Bradley Payne was voted in for the position of President of the Board of Commissioners.
The board accepted the resignation of Rita Colella Vacancy Board Chairperson and DeBona motioned the nomination of Joe Kotula to the position, resulting 3-1 vote with commissioners Donald Gunther voting no.
Harmony Township regular monthly Meetings in 2020 will continue to be on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm. All meetings are held at the Harmony Township Municipal Building, 2501 Woodland Road, Ambridge, PA 15003.
