AMBRIDGE, PA (December 13, 2016) – Our focus has been to bargain a fair contract. The District was not taking us seriously which is why we gave the strike notice two weeks ago. We wanted to give the parents and the community time to prepare for the board’s lack of action. The District walked out on us during the last two sessions while the teachers were prepared to bargain all night.
Contrary to District claims, our proposals are affordable. For example, we proposed to double our health care contribution. We also found 10% savings through plan design changes.
A straw poll this morning confirmed the teachers are united against the district proposal.
The Association has prepared a Facebook page where we will share information with the public. Simply search Ambridge Area Education Association.
Starting Wednesday, the teachers are holding a food and personal care items drive for our community. Donations may be dropped off at the Ambridge Polish Falcons or a the picket line in front of the high school.
