What we now know as Old Economy Village came into being on February 3, 1916 with the settlement of a court case in the Beaver County Court of Common Pleas. As a result of the settlement, the Commonwealth took ownership of the core of what was the village of Economy that was created by the Harmony Society in 1824.
The evening’s program will review the court case and settlement, discuss some of the progress made at the historic site over the last century under the Commonwealth’s stewardship, and feature a display of historic artifacts and archival material that illustrate this one hundred year period. Centennial cake and refreshments will be served.
Old Economy Village has requested that people planning to attend the event RSVP by Monday, February 1st so that adequate seating and refreshments are prepared. To RSVP call Elaine Voss at (724) 266-4500 ext. 101 or email Elaine at [email protected].
