Noah Welter, who plays "Noodler" the pirate in the school production, said he had planned to ask Maddie Genre to prom for about a month.
He finally got his chance.
Maddie, a sophomore, who plays Peter Pan, had no idea that Noah, a junior, was planning to ask her on Friday--in front of everyone.
Nancy Pritchard of Economy said the show was "awesome," but then to witness Peter Pan get asked to prom in front of everyone made her proud to be an Ambridge parent.
"Not many boys would have courage like that," she said.
Ambridge's prom is May 3 at Shadow Lakes Country Club in Aliquippa. The students have not picked a theme yet, but are leaning toward "One Enchanted Evening."
