Zubik, an Ambridge native, plans to celebrate his first Mass at the Beaver County Jail at 7 p.m. on Sept. 3.
Zubik, who grew up in the local area, was installed as the 12th bishop of Pittsburgh in 2007.
He belonged to St. Stanislaus Parish, now part of Good Samaritan Parish, and attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and St. Veronica High School, both in Ambridge, before entering St. Paul Seminary in Pittsburgh. He was previously vice principal of Quigley Catholic High School and chaplain to the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse and the students at Mount Gallitzin Academy.
