An Ambridge man remains in the Beaver County Jail accused of dousing his girlfriend with lighter fluid and attempting to set her on fire.
Ambridge police charged Arvell D. Brandon, 36, of Kerr Street, with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and making terroristic threats.
Police said Brandon doused his girlfriend's hair and body with lighter fluid after an argument June 6, then tried to spark his lighter at her face several times, but the lighter wouldn't work. Police said he also threatened to kill the victim.
Ambridge police Lt. Brian Jameson said Brandon was also in the victim's face, telling her that he was going to kill her.
Police responded at 10:50 p.m. to Kerr Street and Lenz Avenue, where they found the victim outside. Jameson said police could smell flammable fluid on the victim, who was visibly wet.
Brandon remains in jail unable to post $100,000 bond.
