Police have charged a 19-year-old accused of leading police on a chase that ended when his vehicle crashed in Ambridge.
The incident began on Route 65 in Ohio Township after authorities received a report of a motorist waving a gun around and speeding.
Police in Sewickley spotted the vehicle, driven by Martell Matthews, that matched the description. Officers followed the car across the Beaver County line to Ambridge, where the chase ended at Route 65 and 8th Street.
Police used spiked strips to stop the car, which then crashed into a sign and a pole at the intersection and nearly struck a police car. Police said Matthews was not injured.
Route 65 was closed at Cross Street. Police from Ambridge, Economy, Baden, Harmony, and Leet also responded.
