The FBI tracked a total of 858 communities in Pennsylvania and of those, 140 had zero violent crime. The largest of the communities to reach that mark were Economy, O'Hara Township, Ohio Township and Southwest Regional.
The FBI classifies violent crime as murder, rape and aggravated assault.
"Being rural, we have more housing than we do business. They don't have the opportunity really, for those types of crimes to be occurring," he said.
Economy has reported three violent crimes for 2014. Two were thefts involving physical force that happened at the new Walmart.
