AMBRIDGE, PA - A truck recently struck the main water line that is attached to the Ambridge - Aliquippa Bridge that is suspended over Route 65 in the Borough of Ambridge. It has caused damage to the structure that supports this high-pressure water line. As a safety precaution, based on consulting the Ambridge Water Authority, PENNDOT will close Route 65, northbound only, within the next couple of hours (estimated at 7PM) until repairs can be made to this support structure. Closure is expected to last through tomorrow, Wednesday, May 10th.
The closure will start at 8th Street (AKA Route 989) and will reopen at Logan Lane on Route 65, northbound.
Detour will be posted for all northbound traffic on Route 65 to exit via 8th Street, follow Route 989 - 8th Street to Duss Avenue - Duss Avenue through Harmony Township to Logan Lane in Baden Borough to get back on Route 65 northbound.
Traffic on the Ambridge - Aliquippa Bridge is to remain open.
