Kody Nichi is not only a starter, he's also the team captain with a 4.1 grade-point average carrying A's in nearly all of his honors classes.
Head Coach Mark Jula, an Ambridge graduate and former stand-out athlete, said Kody is a a great kid, who takes direction well, and has not said a word in two years.
"He just comes in and goes to work," Jula said, pointing out that Kody is not only the captain of the basketball team, but also football and baseball.
Kody said the team is his second family and he looks forward to coming to practice everyday after school.
When asked about sharing the starting line up with a freshman—Romnn Shell—Kody said, "its feels like he looks up to me and I can teach him a lot."
In giving advice to Romnn, he suggested that he keep his cool and play his best, adding that when he gets into trouble on the court, he looks for Romnn.
When Romnn was asked about his grades, he replied that he has good grades, all A's and B's, to which Kody joked that they'd better be.
Kody aspires to be an engineer and is looking at three colleges. He said it will all come down to his grades.
