The rules changed for Track and Field athletes this year in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL). Instead of regional qualifying meets, in each event, athletes with the 24 best regular-season marks in Class AAA and the best 16 in Class AA will qualify for the WPIAL championship meet.
The WPIAL is made up of 10 counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington, and Westmoreland and is governed by the Constitution and By-Laws of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association ( PIAA). There are are 51 schools in the AAA Track classification .
The following Ambridge Athletes qualified based on based on times/distances achieved throughout the 2016 –2017 regular season .
