Ambridge Borough was recently ranked No. 2 on the list of “10 Most Dangerous Cities in Pennsylvania,” considered more dangerous than Philadelphia and Harrisburg.
The list, put out Friday by Home Security Shield--a company that offers home security and monitoring systems--says that a person has a one in 17 chance of becoming a crime victim in Ambridge.
“Most dangerous” cities are ranked based on violent crime rates. When considering both property and violent crime rates, Ambridge ranked No. 4.
According to the 2012 statistics, Ambridge—with a population of 7,051—has an annual crime rate of about 60 per 1,000 residents. That includes 18.86 violent crimes and 41.27 property crimes per 1,000 residents each year.
Ranked at No. 1 was Chester, PA, which received the title of “Pennsylvania’s Most Dangerous City.” New Castle ranked No. 3 and McKees Rocks ranked No. 4.

The walk will go from 4th and Merchant to 11th Street starting at 8 pm. Anyone can join the walk at any point throughout the route.
