Plans are in motion for a new Speedway convenience store and gas station in Harmony Township.
Harmony commissioners approved a subdivision request Wednesday in relation to the store’s future location on southbound Route 65 at Logan Lane.
Officials said the lot will be sold to Enon, Ohio based Speedway LLC with plans to eventually adjoin an adjacent piece of property the company is acquiring from W. David Wright to build the gas station.
The planning commission recommended the subdivision plans be approved Wednesday with conditions.
Jeff Dezort of CESO Inc., the project's engineer, said the subdivision gives the developer enough space to build and provide an ample turning radius for large trucks.
Harmony Engineer Frank Lemon said the next step is consolidating the two pieces of property.
Dezort said the roughly 4,600-square-foot Speedway station would have six two-sided automobile pumps and two tractor-trailer pumps.
The store--set to be located across from the Sheetz convenience store and the new Wright Chevrolet dealership site--will also sell a range of everyday items such as snack foods, candy and tobacco products.
“They have a lot of the fountain drinks, aisles of snacks, dogs on the grill, those kinds of things,” Dezort said.
Dezort said no particular opening date has been set at this point.
“We’re in the process of getting everything approved and all of our permits in place."
