For the third year in a row, Dwight Lindsey of Aliquippa held his summer basketball league for athletes ages 30 and older.
And this year he chose to hold the championship game in Ambridge.
Lindsey said, "Ambridge has a number of pick up games throughout the week so it has well known courts."
Normally, he said his league plays in Hopewell Township, but this year he brought the league to Ambridge, which he said is "local and a nice facility."
One of the players, an Ambridge graduate, said it is a good league and it brings everyone together in the community.
Ambridge resident David Lawrence, who officiates for for WPIAL, PIAA, and up to Division 2 for college, was hired to referee the Sunday Hoops championship game.
Lawrence said that Ambridge needs to get activity like this more often. He and his son came down prior to the championship to watch. He knew a number of the athletes because he covered some of their high school and college games as a referee.
