Over 30 teachers came to school board meeting held Wednesday night wearing buttons that read " Working without a contract since July 1, 2015."
advertisement Teachers also passed out informational flyers prior to the meeting that shared the out of pocket expenses for supplies, how the teachers donate funds for high school senior scholarships , and that the district just saved money on the new bus contract.
Lauren Mawhinney the Ambridge Area Education Association President shared that they are "We continuing to work and even though we are negotiation our contact . We are continuing to be there for the students and continuing to keep their interest our main priority at this time."
Subject to the agreement between the teachers' association and the district , the school board voted on to provide $100 for each teacher to spend on classroom educational supplies for the 2016-17 school year.
"Negotiations continue and we are going to strive for a fair end to that to the best to our ability without going on strike at this time." added Mawhinney
Next meeting with the Ambridge Area Education Association and the district will be on Sept 13.
