Additional School Board Vacancy Notice
The Ambridge Area Board of School Directors is accepting letters of interest to fill a vacancy on the Board.
The vacancy was created when Board member Roger Kowal resigned as of January 5, 2020. Kowal, provided a resignation letter to Board President Cathy Fischer.
School Board members have 30 days to fill the vacancy per Department of Education regulations. District residents wishing to fill the seat are encouraged to submit a letter of interest and a resume for review by January 14, 2020 to: Mrs. June Mueller, School Board Secretary, 901 Duss Ave., Ambridge, PA 15003, or via email at [email protected].
The Pennsylvania School Code outlines the following requirements for candidates wishing to fill school board vacancies:
Must be a citizen;
Must be at least 18 years old;
Must be of good moral character; and
Must be a resident of school district for at least one year prior to the date of election or appointment.
Mrs. Fischer said the School Board will review all and conduct interviews at the January 15, 2020 meeting. A final candidate will be selected at the January 15, 2020 meeting. The new Board member will serve the remainder of Mr. Kowal’s term, which expires in November 2021.
