Volunteers came out from service clubs, churches, businesses, and families to contribute to the Great Pennsylvania Cleanup, a statewide cleanup organized locally by the Committee to Clean and Beautify Ambridge.
Roberta Sciulli, chairwoman, said a total of 66 volunteers showed up on Saturday to pitch in for a few hours.
A day earlier, Sciulli said about 20 or so students from Ambridge Area High School also volunteered and made "wonderful progress" on Friday.
"They worked hard, met some new people and had some fun too," she said.
Volunteers were provided supplies and treated to lunch after Saturday's cleanup. Those who couldn't attend are encouraged to pick up in their own neighborhoods or another public space.
