Store manager Kory Campbell said the store will be hiring both full- and part-time associates.
Walmart provides a benefits program to eligible full- and part-time associates, which includes health and well-being benefits, matching 401k contributions of up to 6 percent of pay, discounts on general merchandise, an Associate Stock Purchase Program and company-paid life insurance.
Through Walmart’s Veterans Welcome Home Commitment, the company will also offer a job to any qualified veteran who has been honorably discharged within the past 12 months. Veterans must be within 12 months of active duty and meet Walmart’s standard hiring criteria. More information is available at http://walmartcareerswithamission.com.
The majority of new associates will begin work in April to help prepare the store for its grand opening in Economy.
Economy Mayor David Poling released the following statement:
"Timing is everything. There couldn't be a better time for the new Economy Borough Walmart. Our new Walmart opening means more than just low prices. The creation of 300 plus jobs and the jump start on the revitalization of our commercial district is just a beginning. Eight years ago when I sat with Walmart executives and developers, a Supercenter coming to Economy Borough was merely a vision for the future. I am grateful Walmart shared that vision and now it is a reality."
