Hosted by the Western Pennsylvania Soap Box Derby, the event was held on 14th Street in Ambridge. Soap box derby racers range in age from 7 to 17 and compete in two classes. Racers from four counties--Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer.
The champions this year are Matthew Kowalsky of Ambridge in Superstock and John Bryson of Hopewell Township in Stock.
Kowalsky and Bryson will travel to International All American Soap Box Derby Annual Race in Akron, Ohio where they will compete in July against almost 600 racers from around the world.
"Congratulations to these Young men that will be representing Ambridge at the All American race in Akron on July 16th." said board member, Tim Cassidy on a facebook post after the race.
" Also would like to thank all those that Volunteered their time and or money to make this possible. We started at 6:00 a.m. and finished with all cleaned up at about 7:30 p.m. Long hot day but well worth the effort."
