Beaver County Common Pleas Judge C. Gus Kwidis has given property owner Frank Pelly a continuance to allow more time to complete the work, but Rodgers, who gave an update at Tuesday's council meeting, said the court has agreed to no longer grant a continuance in the matter.
More than a year ago, Unis Demolition razed the building that once served as headquarters for the American Bridge company. But the lot still has not been cleared and is a lingering eyesore at one of the main arteries into town.
“It doesn’t appear Mr. Unis will be completing the demolition, nor Mr. Pelly,” Rodgers said.
Lawyers for the borough plan to proceed with a request to collect a daily fine of $1,000, the full statutory amount allowed by law. Rodgers said he is not sure how much in fines the court will award.
“At this point, our only legal recourse is to proceed with collecting our fine,” he said.
Council adjourned into executive session to discuss the matter further.
