Ambridge Area School Board has hired a new interim assistant high school principal.
John W. Booher was hired provisionally for one year as the interim assistant principal at a per diem rate of $250, effective Thursday, Nov. 19 through June 30. The hiring is pending receipt of current clearances, drug screening and other requirements.
The previous interim assistant high school principal, Kiara Higgins, resigned on Sept. 29 nearly two weeks after being hired. Her letter of resignation did not state a reason, but was presented after it came to light that she had inappropriate contact with a male student as a former Woodland Hills High School Spanish teacher.
On Wednesday, the school board also modified High School Principal Barry King's assignment to include directing, curriculum, instruction, assessment and federal program coordinator for the remainder of the 2015-16 school year.
King will continue in his role as high school principal serving in a support capacity at his current salary.
