Baden's Annual Applefest Art Show & Car Cruise will mark its fifth-year anniversary when the event takes place Saturday. Vendors, artists, and crafters will take part in the event from 10 to 6 p.m. along with a car cruise from 2 to 6 p.m. to top off the day long event at the Baden Municipal Complex. By Felicia Mycyk
The Beaver County Public Safety Commission would like you to remind all that this week is Fire Prevention Week. From the National Fire and Protection Association, Fire Prevention Week was established to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire, the tragic 1871 conflagration that killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, destroyed more than 17,400 structures and burned more than 2,000 acres. The fire began on Oct. 8, 1871, but continued into and did most of its damage on Oct. 9, 1871. By Felicia Mycyk
Ambridge Police turn in their crime statistics to the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting program. According to the FBI website, law enforcement agencies across the nation voluntarily participate in the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program. A list of the "10 Most Dangerous Cities" in the state recently released by Home Security Shield, a company that sells security systems, used the statistics to rank Ambridge as No. 2. Cobblestone Hotel broke ground on 11th Street for the new hotel that will be built in Ambridge.

The list, put out Friday by Home Security Shield--a company that offers home security and monitoring systems--says that a person has a one in 17 chance of becoming a crime victim in Ambridge. At least eight residents have been displaced from a fire that broke out Saturday night in an upstairs apartment at the Duss Avenue Café in Ambridge, according to the borough fire chief. Despite the cold and rain, Ambridge Borough celebrated its inaugural Fall Festival on Saturday with plenty of food, activities and entertainment for the entire family.
