Rev. Dr. Henry (Laurie) Thompson, dean of Seminary Advancement at Trinity School for Ministry, was thanked for bringing the hotel to area.
Cobblestone representatives presented council with a rendering of the future Cobblestone Hotel that will be built on roughly 2 acres in the heart of Ambridge. The rendering depicts color schemes, the main entrance and portico, and the type of upscale materials that would be used.
"It's an exciting project," Thompson said. "...It'll be a nice addition to the area."
A site plan was submitted to the borough for review that shows the front of the 31-room hotel facing 11th Street with access off New Economy Drive in the vicinity from the Bottom Dollar grocery store.
"We have acquired parking along the back side. We do have a landscaping plan that has been proposed, stormwater management," he said.
Trinity has been working with NIRA Consulting Engineers, the borough's engineering firm, to address their comments and provide everything the borough needs to move forward.
Council approved allowing the Cobblestone Hotel project to proceed with recommendations from NIRA.
Cobblestone Hotels, based in Wayne, Nebraska, specializes in developing hotels in small population environments, and has four others listed as coming soon in Pennsylvania. A ground breaking for the Ambridge hotel is planned for October.
