The traditional opening day of trout season in Pennsylvania is Saturday, April 12, when anglers will have plenty of opportunities to catch stocked or wild fish. According to the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, about 3.2 million adult brook, brown and rainbow trout have been stocked in state waterways, including Big Sewickley Creek, Raccoon Lake and Bradys Run. Ambridge Area High School's track season started with a meet Friday against Moon Area. Both Ambridge 4 x 400m relay teams took first place.

Two Ambridge alumni helped coach the Edinboro University women's basketball team to victory. Ambridge 2002 grad Callie Wheeler ( Iorfidio) and 2008 grad Kiara Brown both assisted in coaching the team to a 86-76 win over Gannon on Sunday to claim the program's third Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Women's Basketball Championship. Coming up for the Fighting Scots will be the NCAA Regional Tournament set for March 14, 15 and 17. |
