Council members recently sent a letter to the president of Aldi's regarding the impending closure of the Bottom Dollar store.
Last month, Bottom Dollar announced plans to sell its stores to Aldi's, which will result in the closing of all 66 locations, including the two-year-old Ambridge store.
Borough officials have also contacted the state Rep. Rob Matzie, D-Ambridge, and Senator Elder Vogel Jr., R-New Sewickley, in an effort to get a business to occupy the store.
Meanwhile, a local resident has started a petition to bring Trader Joe's to the borough.
“We’re not idly sitting back with Bottom Dollar closing and the lumber
company on 14th Street closing," Mikulich said. “We have been very active.”
