Renewable energy will be on full display in Beaver County come Saturday, June 28, when the Clean and Green Energy Fair debuts in Ambridge.
Old Economy Village will host a free lecture featuring professor and Harmonist scholar Alice Ott. The lecture on the "Religious Beliefs and Practices of George Rapp’s Harmony Society" begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, in the visitor center, 270 16th St., Ambridge. Ott researched the religious beliefs of George Rapp and the Harmony Society during her tenure as a Scholar in Residence at Old Economy Village in 2006. Ott is an affiliate professor of the history of Global Christianity at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois. Attendees to the Help Them Play Youth Fest said they were glad they took the time to come out Sunday afternoon. From games, face painting and crafts to information about summer camps and children's sports, the event provided a plethora of information on youth activities available around town. The second annual Help Them Play Youth Fest will kick off the summer season for local children and families this Memorial Day weekend. The public is invited to attend the free, one-stop shop from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 25 at Ambridge Area High School to gather information about youth sports, camps and upcoming activities. The event will feature special guest and two-time Olympian Brianne McLaughlin, goalie of the USA Women's Hockey Team. Seven years ago, Sandy Prokop started a Memorial Day weekend tradition placing flags in local cemeteries for veterans. Her dedication to honoring local veterans led her to join the women's auxiliary at the Baden American Legion Post 641, where she is now leading the charge on the annual poppy fundraiser. Celebrate the arrival of spring at Old Economy Village in Ambridge this weekend. A free Garden Mart will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 in the blooming garden. The annual event will be held in the historic 19th century formal gardens at Old Economy Village. Heirloom vegetables and other plants from the historic site’s greenhouse will be available for purchase. Nine additional vendors are participating in the Garden Mart and will be selling garden related items as well. Admission into the Garden Mart and the Old Economy Village gardens is free. |
