A local contractor says he was unfairly targeted by Baden's building code officer and cited for several alleged violations.

Ambridge sewer customers will see a rate increase on their bills starting in July. According to a news release from the Ambridge Municipal Authority, Ambridge residents have received several quarterly rate increases over the last 13 years. The current 4.24 percent increase will appear in the July bill for the second quarter of 2014. Ambridge Area School Board will take action on the final $41.6 million budget at the regular meeting next week.
Minnie Baker, business manager, said the school district is still facing a $630,451 shortfall in the the 2014-15 budget, even if the board approves a 2.06-mill tax increase, up to 76 mills. A new initiative recently kicked off in Ambridge that aims to get people out and about this summer. "Walkabout, Rideabout Thursdays" is a collaborative effort by the Ambridge Historic District, Ambridge Chamber of Commerce and Committee to Clean and Beautify Ambridge that encourages residents and visitors to walk and bike in town. Ambridge Council voted to accept a letter of resignation from its borough manager Tuesday as several expressed regret. “Whitney Brady did an outstanding job for this community,” said Councilman Gerald “Duke” McCoy. “I feel very disheartened that she's leaving. I don't know that we're going to get someone as effective as she has been and I’m very truly sorry to see her leave.” |
